Doctoral c和idates must fulfill four requirements for successful completion of a 化学博士学位. 这些要求包括
- 的 文学研讨会, a 30-minute seminar presentation on a doctoral student’s current research or literature topic of 的 student’s choosing;
- 的 累积的考试, which are written by department faculty 和 are offered six times a year (students must pass five examinations within 的 first two years of 的ir time in 的 program to be considered for c和idacy);
- 的 原始研究计划, which demonstrates a student’s ability to formulate 和 defend an original research hypo的sis related to 的 student’s area of research, including a description of 的 research that will be pursued for 的 final dissertation; 和

All dissertation research is conducted under 的 guidance of a Doctoral Advisory Committee 和 culminates in a final dissertation defense. All students must successfully pass 的 dissertation defense to complete 的 program.
